[12:01]<Craig> Actually Veritas, since I am claiming the computer owns a user, it's is correct.
[12:01]<Quantos> Huh, what'd I miss?
[12:02]<Craig> History from 4am
[12:02]<Quantos> Oh
[12:02]<Quantos> LOL
[12:02]<Quantos> I thought maybe you'd come unglued ;)
[12:02]<Craig> Hey BC_Programming, you should check out my website, https://www.brokedcomputer.com <- He was claiming he found an error on my website.
[12:02]<Quantos> Ah
[12:03]<Quantos> I don't know, I'm a firm believer in PEBCAK
[12:03]<Quantos> ;)
[12:03]<Craig> Possibly, but there are many situations where that is not true.
[12:04]<Quantos> Yeah, I know, sometimes they have windows on the pc :P
[12:04]<Quantos> Nice looking site, pretty concise
[12:04]<Quantos> And no ads
[12:05]<Craig> Thanks
[12:06]<Craig> The site is not my money goal, it is supposed to lead to me. And I would want to controll the advertising very tightly. So that is probably not possible these days.
[12:06]<Quantos> Yeah, no kidding, they'll banner anything in these days
[12:06]<Craig> Yup, and mostly porn...
[12:07]<Craig> No need of that on my site. Since its where some of the viruses come from...
[12:07]<Quantos> Only some?
[12:07]<Quantos> Oh yeah, then there's porn torrents
[12:08]<Craig> Yeah actually a lot of the popular porn sites are quite clean... sadly.
[12:08]<Craig> ... yea
[12:15]<+camerongray> Just came into Craig's last message
[12:19]<+camerongray> But Craig's point does relate to why I am against content filtering
[12:19]<+camerongray> Popular porn sites are relatively safe, filters block them - If people want to access it they still will, just through less popular more dangerous sites
[12:20]<+camerongray> I like the way A&A describe the filter on their broadband order form
[12:20]<+camerongray> https://order.aa.net.uk/h1order.cgi - "Censored Internet access - restricted access to unpublished government mandated filter list - but still cannot guarantee kids don't access porn"
[12:20]<+camerongray> Clearly, "we have to do this, please don't take it"
[12:25]<Craig> hahahahahaahah
[12:26]<Quantos> Then there's the people that pass all of there security measure to get the porn
[12:26]<Quantos> I've never understood that
[12:26]<Quantos> But it keeps triggering my AV
[12:26]<Quantos> Yeah, prolly a reason for that
[12:27]<+camerongray> I remember back in school they filtered the internet - It just got in the way of doing actual work
[12:27]<Craig> hahahaah too true
[12:27]<Quantos> Yeap
[12:27]<+camerongray> During AH computing one of my friends was implementing a computerised version of Black Jack
[12:28]<+camerongray> Do you think he could actually find the rules online or even a picture of a playing card that wasn't blocked? :P
[12:28]<Craig> HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
[12:28]<+camerongray> We just gave up and tethered our phones
[12:28]<Quantos> LOL
[12:28]<Quantos> That's too damned funny
[12:28]<Quantos> And what did that do to your usage fees?
[12:28]<Quantos> Do you guys pay for that or is it in the package?
[12:29]<Quantos> I know in Italy it's exorbitantly high
[12:29]<Quantos> I used to play Ultima Online with an Italian, it almost cost him a dollar a minute to play. It was long distance to his ISP and then he was charged for volume as well
[12:30]<+camerongray> Thankfully a few people in the class had unlimited plans (like me)
[12:30]<+camerongray> So we would have 4 or 5 phones sitting in the window broadcasting WiFi that everyone then connected to
[12:30]<Quantos> Ah
[12:30]<+camerongray> So you can imagine how fast that was!
[12:30]<Quantos> LOL
[12:30]<Quantos> 9600 baud, here we come
[12:30]<+camerongray> hehe
[12:30]<Craig> The internet at this site is sooo slow... :p
[12:31]<Quantos> I remember flashing the firmware on my old supraexpress 9600 to 14.4, I thought it rocked
[12:31]<Quantos> Geez, I just want an excuse from 14
[12:31]<Quantos> Pita
[12:32]<Quantos> Why is the air pressure indicator inlet on a airplane called a pita tube?
[12:32]<Craig> The connection here is limiting my download to 120KBps.... My server at home should be able to push 600KBps.
[12:33] * Quantos cranks up The Zoo
[12:33]<Craig> Glad I cannot hear it.
[12:33]<Quantos> I love the Scorpions
[12:34]<Quantos> BRB gotta hook up a network printer here real quick
[12:39]<Quantos> Well that didn't take as long as I thought it would
[12:40]<Quantos> Lets see if 14 messes up while he thinks I'm still gone
[12:40]<Craig> 14?
[12:41]<Quantos> Sorry Craig, some putz in the CH channel
[12:41]<Quantos> It was meant for Cam
[12:41]<+camerongray> Craig: Someone in CH, Complete knob
[12:41]<Quantos> Yeah, can't call him a tool
[12:41]<Quantos> Those have uses
[12:41]<+camerongray> haha
[12:42]<Quantos> He seems to think it's a good idea to try to do my job for me
[12:43] * Nat (nat@mib-921C62AC.socal.res.rr.com) has joined #glitchpc
[12:46]<Craig> :P
[12:47]<Quantos> Heya Nat
[12:47]<Nat> hiya
[12:48]<Craig> Long time no see Naat
[12:48]<Nat> yup been busy with work/school
[13:11]<Craig> Because I couldn't use the full speed of my connection using teamviewer, I added two more connections to use more speed. :p
[13:38]<@BC_Programming> Javas installer is a pile of garbage
[13:39]<@BC_Programming> a Silent install should never exit without installing and return an exit code indicating user cancelled
[13:45]<Craig> :P
[13:46]<Quantos> No kidding eh?
[13:51]<@BC_Programming> Also for some reason it decides to try running the uninstaller for the previous version of Java
[13:51]<@BC_Programming> that would make sense if there was a previous version installed
[13:51]<Quantos> Nice
[13:51]<Quantos> I don't run java on this box
[13:52]<Quantos> Can't be bothered with it
[13:52]<@BC_Programming> We need Java for our Java Report Viewer using Jasper Reports
[13:52]<Craig> I adore my VPN
[13:55]<Quantos> Oh fun
[13:55]<Quantos> Why are you guys using jasper?
[13:55]<Quantos> Of course I guess that's a corporate decision
[13:56]<@BC_Programming> Because its free and Crystal reports is a piece of crap
[13:56]<Quantos> They probably didn't consult with you before you were working there
[13:56]<Quantos> Agreed, crystal sux nutz
[13:57]<@BC_Programming> Jasper Reports is Open Source also. I dont think we changed anything but since it has like zero documentation on the latest releases weve had to look in there to find out why we are getting certain weird errors
[13:57]<@BC_Programming> I like the one where it randomly decides a printer doesnt exist
[13:58]<Quantos> LMAO
[13:58]<Quantos> I love that
[13:58]<Craig> Woot using my VPN I can transfer files through TeamViewer at 420KBps. :D
[13:58]<@BC_Programming> that apparently happens when doing very high volume printing
[13:58]<Quantos> What does it consider high volume though
[13:59]<Quantos> Is it high volume for the printers duty cycle, or is it high volume for the software?
[13:59]<Craig> Yeah what is considered High Volume?
[13:59]<@BC_Programming> I dont know I wasnt working on that issue with Velcan directly
[13:59]<Quantos> Ah
[13:59]<Quantos> Just curious
[14:01]<@BC_Programming> though I remember one conversation where my co-worker said something along the lines I scrolled through the print queue, so I think for them their print queue is constantly at like 100 documents or so. I do know they use industrial printers
[14:01]<Quantos> So the duty cycle isn't the issue then?
[14:02]<Quantos> Must be a software limitation, of course I have no way of knowing how to determine that one for you ;)
[14:02] * Quantos could be talking out of his ass
[14:02]<@BC_Programming> I dont know i think we worked around that one somehow, I havent heard about it since I fd around with it last
[14:03]<@BC_Programming> I just know it was completely unreproducible by us so it was related to their specific printers
[14:03]<Quantos> Wow
[14:05]<@BC_Programming> hmm great
[14:05] * Quantos (Mibbit@mib-B9F8D23F.ed.shawcable.net) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[14:08]<jamer> Still trying to figure out why this game wont load
[14:09]<@BC_Programming> which game is that

[14:22]<Quantos> Well this sucks, still can't get iTunes working on this

[14:40]<jamer> figured it out ... its space engineers
[14:50]<Craig> what was it?
[14:50]<@BC_Programming> it wasnt working
[14:50]<@BC_Programming> LO
[14:51]<@BC_Programming> oops I meant :P
[14:51]<Craig> :P
[14:51]<jamer> settings ... basically its one of those settings about video quality
[14:52]<Craig> ... jamer your computer aint good enough.
[14:52]<jamer> i cant run it on low but medium XD
[14:52]<Craig> what??
[14:52]<jamer> yeah ...
[14:53]<jamer> it will run the game just fine 720P on medium
[14:53]<jamer> no lag
[14:53]<jamer> but if i drop the render settings to low it wont load the maps
[14:54]<Craig> Maybe it does, but the black screen is the low settings :p
[14:54]<jamer> XD
[14:55]<@BC_Programming> Oracle sucks
[14:55]<@BC_Programming> just putting that out there
[14:55]<Craig> Yuo
[14:55]<Quantos> They make a pretty decent VM though
[14:55]<Craig> yup
[14:55]<Quantos> Never used anything else by them
[14:56]<@BC_Programming> No they inherited a pretty decent VM from Sun
[14:56]<Quantos> Oh is that how it went?
[14:56]<@BC_Programming> they also inherited Java, whos installer they broke in a Java 6 update
[14:56]<Craig> Still not as good as VMWare
[14:56]<Quantos> No?
[14:56]<@BC_Programming> Its literally a typo in their installer script.... They could have fixed it years ago
[14:57]<Quantos> You're kidding
[14:57]<Quantos> Just a typo
[14:57]<@BC_Programming> but they didnt. Its still here years later. And I have to deal with this crap because They refuse to even acknowledge the issue exists
[14:57]<Quantos> Wow
[14:57]<Craig> How did you figure out it was a typo?
[14:57]<@BC_Programming> well the error message from rundll32 was pretty obvious
[14:58]<Craig> Oh hahahah
[14:58]<@BC_Programming> file not found on C:\folder\path\\installer.dll
[14:58]<Craig> BAH HAhahahahahah
[14:58]<Quantos> Ah
[14:58]<Quantos> That's hilarious
[14:58]<@BC_Programming> I decompiled the internal MSI file and the script tries to uninstall older versions but it adds an extra slash
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> based on the installer of the error from my googles it goes back to early Java 6 in like 2008 or something
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> They have loads of reports of the issue for every single release of Java since, and every single one is closed as cant reproduce
[14:59]<Craig> Interesting
[14:59]<@BC_Programming> Now I have a funner problem, since the updater took that into its own hands
[15:00]<Craig> ?
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> since Javas installer apparently corrupts everything because if it being so rife with those sorts of issues, I have the updater trying to fix everything itself and make it so the installer doesnt crash. If the installer finds anything about a previous version being installed it will try to uninstall it, fail because of that problem, and then because the uninstall failed, it will also
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> exit with a 1603 error, while logging an irrelevant message to the event log
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> so the updater basically tries to delete all the registry keys and files that might tip the installer off to an older version
[15:01]<@BC_Programming> and of course this is REALLY fun because of course absolutely none of this garbage is documented.
[15:02]<@BC_Programming> I have to literally pore through a Process Monitor trace to find out just what the installer is looking for
[15:02]<@BC_Programming> All because of a 5+ year old typo from an enterprise company
[15:03]<Craig> Wow, is there a lot of this issue documented online?
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> https://www.google.ca/?gws_rd=ssl#q=java+\\installer.dll
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> one of hte latest bugs on the tracker: https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8028779?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> the guy went through EVERYTHING about the error, described exactly what the problem was, and asked Oracle to make the fix to the typo
[15:04]<@BC_Programming> they closed it as Cant reproduce
[15:08]<Craig> Wow that is a comprehensive answer.
[15:10]<@BC_Programming> If I could figure out a way to hack the installer myself to fix it I would... given the issues I might do that anyway, get the .msi from inside the exe installer and decompile it with Advanced installer, fix the typo, rebuild, and stick it in a NSIS installer or something
[15:15]<Craig> :P
[15:15]<Craig> You could put that out as a works as is. :P
[15:16]<@BC_Programming> proper seo tags on a blog post and maybe others will not have ot deal with this stuff
[15:18]<Craig> :P
[15:20]<Craig> That report has a note that states "Cannot reproduce in 7u51"
[15:20]<@BC_Programming> Im using 7u55 and 7u60
[15:20]<@BC_Programming> so based on that Im imagining things
[15:20]<Craig> :P
[15:22]<Craig> Thats kinda stupid that they didn't just look at the source and see if that was true.

[22:09]<@BC_Programming> He might be talking about that stupid adware
[22:10]<Quantos> He claims his computer turned on and asked him how he slept
[22:10]<@BC_Programming> oh
[22:10]<@BC_Programming> yeah I suppose thats clearly in the whacko category
[22:10]<Quantos> I suggested he see his doctor and referred him to the forums
[22:10]<Quantos> They could use a good laugh too
[22:11]<@BC_Programming> his computer cant be talking to him because mine said it was the only one
[22:11]<Quantos> No way, mine is the talker
[22:11]<@BC_Programming> yeah you talk the talk but can your comptuer talk the... talk?
[22:11]<Quantos> LOL
[22:12]<Quantos> What movie was that, full metal jacket?
[22:12]<@BC_Programming> I didnt quote a movie
[22:12]<Quantos> Trying to remember the characters name
[22:12]<jamer> Neo
[22:12]<Quantos> You came really close to it
[22:12]<jamer> Matrix
[22:13]<Quantos> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093058/quotes
[22:13]<jamer> Cause my laptop's screensaver is the matrix intro
[22:15]<Quantos> Animal Mother: You talk the talk. Do you walk the walk?
[22:16]<@BC_Programming> that is way older than any movie

[22:17]<jamer> https://i.imgur.com/SsbItqA.jpg
[22:18]<@BC_Programming> My CS teacher when I was in high school had that as the screensaver on all the PCs
[22:18]<jamer> Lol
[22:18]<Quantos> Oh I know that BC, it just sounded just like animal mother, the way you typed it
[22:19]<Quantos> I could hear his voice
[22:19]<jamer> Our IT department at school hates my lab
[22:19] * Quantos phones his dr
[22:19]<Quantos> Maybe guest 95 was contagious
[22:22]<@BC_Programming> I typed it using my keyboard
[22:23]<jamer> Yay gummi mix is about ready
[22:23]<Quantos> LOL
[22:27]<Quantos> The average human walk about 900 miles a year, and consumes about 22 gallons of beer, that's 41 mpg, not bad
[22:28]<@BC_Programming> Allow me to sing ofr me a rendition of the metroid brinstar music: Do, do do de doo do , do-de-dadoo, do de da doo doodly dooo, do, do dee, diddly dum doodly dah!
[22:28]<Quantos> Hehehe
[22:28]<Quantos> I was right, insanity is contagious
[22:28]<Quantos> The question now is which of us caught it from the other?
[22:29]<@BC_Programming> I think the real question is why we all purple when we could just hamburger
[22:30]<@BC_Programming> Oh its happening, my linguine is becoming daffodils!
[22:30]<Quantos> Green
[22:37]<Tux2> lol, you guys
[23:02]<Tux2> Soo, just a little report: I've found that the EnjinMinecraftPlugin works on MC servers from version 1.4.7-1.7.9
[23:03]<Tux2> lol, I have someone asking for help through a support ticket for my Minecraft hosting getting a mod pack to run. The catch: they aren't using my hosting...
[23:05]<@BC_Programming> haha
[23:07]<Tux2> I gave them some very generic instructions and told them if they hosted through us we would be more than happy to create the jar file for them
[23:07]<@BC_Programming> I can forward you to our sales department and its just you again
[23:08]<Quantos> I just got back from buying my little girl a creamsicle, I can't believe the price of those now
[23:08]<@BC_Programming> I somehow omitted a creamsicle when I read that first
[23:08]<Quantos> Of course I haven't bought one for ages
[23:08]<Quantos> LOL
[23:09]<Quantos> She was on sale from this Arab on the corner....
[23:09]<@BC_Programming> you buy, stock clearance sale
[23:10]<Quantos> hehehe
[23:12]<Tux2> lol
[23:36]<jamer> Quantos the gtkpod manages iphones also
[23:36]<Quantos> Oh does it?
[23:36]<Quantos> Cool, I'll give that a whirl, nothing else works, and I really don't want to dual boot
[23:37]<@BC_Programming> I think they are dealt with in the same way
[23:37]<Quantos> I tried a vm and it gives me error after error
[23:37]<@BC_Programming> Most Music managers seem to be able to deal with iPods and stuff
[23:37]<Quantos> Just driving me nuts
[23:37]<Quantos> Banshee sure can't, says it can't mount the device
[23:37]<Quantos> Tried atunes, same thing
[23:38]<@BC_Programming> Personally As it is I dont see any situation where I would by an iThing, thats just me
[23:39]<Tux2> BC_Programming: same with me. However, you just can't stop the noobs from doing it.
[23:39]<@BC_Programming> Did you just call Quantos a noob?
[23:40]<Tux2> I had someone tell me today that the iPad couldn't download a file because it didn't have enough "RAM" and couldn't handle it.
[23:40]<Tux2> lol, I guess I did BC_Programming
[23:40]<Quantos> I wasn't aware that ram was a factor there
[23:41]<Tux2> lol, right? I retorted that the iPad was perfectly capable of handling the file, it's just that Apple has locked down the device making it impossible.
[23:41]<Quantos> This box has 4 GB and I can download a 100GB file pretty easily
[23:41]<Quantos> Just takes me a while
[23:41]<@BC_Programming> geek-9pm just asked on the CH forum where to find a complete season 9 of a TV show
[23:41]<Tux2> It's a 50MB zip file with images inside... the iPad simply doesn't know what to do with zip files.
[23:42]<Tux2> I then proved it by showing how my little phone with less than 512MB of RAM could download, unzip, and then put the images into a presentation flawlessly
[23:43]<@BC_Programming> or I tried to download the installer but I cant get win32_setup.exe to run on my iphone
[23:43]<Tux2> Ha ha!
[23:43]<Quantos> God, I have the MOST irritating fu** nut in the channel right now, god I want to ban him so badly
[23:44]<Tux2> lol, do what I did: just leave the channel
[23:44]<Quantos> Somebody give me permission, where's LC when I need him
[23:44]<@BC_Programming> yeah db is annoying
[23:44]<Quantos> I might just jump the gun on it
[23:44]<Quantos> No, this guy is way worse
[23:44]<Quantos> Log in and see
[23:44]<@BC_Programming> yeah uh no\
[23:45]<Quantos> Coward ;)
[23:45]<@BC_Programming> what is he doing? just spamming
[23:45]<Quantos> You just don't want to pull out your precious hair
[23:45]<Quantos> :P
[23:45]<Quantos> No, if it was that he
[23:45]<Quantos> 'd be gone by now
[23:45]<Quantos> He's giving ridiculous advice, not dangerous, just ridiculous
[23:45]<Tux2> lol, I've already pulled out enough hair over the past few days dealing with GroupManager and mcMMO problems.
[23:46]<Quantos> LOL
[23:46]<Quantos> Screw it, he's gone
[23:47]<Quantos> Hey, this is the time for a qban
[23:47]<Quantos> Wohoooo
[23:47]<Quantos> I love those
[23:48]<Craig> ... This poor customer.
[23:49]<Craig> They have gotten two harddrives sent to them, the first died, the second should be ok. They had the installation CD's from the original Harddrive, and the CD's are no good. Now they need to request CD's again...
[23:50]<Quantos> Ah, silence
[23:50]<Quantos> Blessed silence
[23:50]<Quantos> I'll forward the logs of that moron, if you want a good laugh
[23:53]<@BC_Programming> OK have to be careful I keep confusing mIRC and skype
[23:54]<Craig> hahahahaha
